THE BROKEN MACHINE
Synopsis & HISTORY
(2M/2W/1NB, M, OR W)
A burnt-out coder has become a hermit in the wilderness, nursing a broken arm and making lists from memory—of lizards, endangered species, Moments of Lost Time—in company with her only friend, a gray fox with a bad attitude. When wild fires approach they flee through the woods to the sea, pursued by would-be rescuers and a punkish psychopomp, in this climate-chaos fantasia.
The Broken Machine was commissioned and produced by Lehigh University’s Department of Theatre, and had a virtual pandemic reading from Magic Theater, San Francisco. It has not yet had a professional premiere.
